Introduction:

Trek to the base camp of Mashebrum (7281m) is a continuation of journey ahead of Dumsum. The massive Mashebrum was the first peak mapped in the Karakorams and was thus given the name K1. The trek continues from Dumsum, climbs up to the beautiful campsite of Brumbramah before crossing a small glacier and reaching the Mashebrum base camp. The return journey is easily done with either an overnight stay at Dumsum or reaching Hushe directly.

Itinerary

Arrival of participants in Skardu and transferred to Concordia Motel or equivalent.

Drive to Hushe Valley. Start the trek from Hushe village. Set up camp in Dumsum (3400m). Optional hike to the Aling glacier (1-2 hours). Spend the rest of the afternoon exploring the natural surroundings. Overnight in camps

Start trek form Dumsum through the remote, mountainous terrain parallel to the Masherbrum Glacier and leads till Brumbrama (4050m). Overnight in camps.

Start the trek to Masherbrum Base Camp (4280m) through a beautiful trail, parallel to the Masherbrum Glacier. In the afternoon, have free time to visit the base camp lake and nearby viewpoints. Overnight in camps.

Trek back to Dumsum while making brief pauses for photography along the way. Overnight in camps.

Trek back to Hushe, then proceed with a drive to Khaplu. Delightful lunch on the way. Drive back to Skardu.
